Hiking in Oregon

Untitled

As promised, Oregon hiking mega-photo-post. We and some family members left early in the morning to escape the crowds and started hiking up Tam McArthur Rim around 8:30/9:00ish, which is near Broken Top Mt. and leads up to South Sister Mt., if I remember this correctly.

The trail starts out near the timberline and then goes up and up and up until you reach the alpine level and then goes on through more and more volcanic terrain. Once you reach the rim after about 2.5 miles you can essentially go on for as long as you want and we went a mile further up to walk towards the snow. I could’ve gone on further, but unfortunately you have to remember that you have to walk all the way back, so we turned around after a while and walked back to the car.

If you look at the photos below, the landscape was just mind-blowing, fucking awesome from beginning to end.

The photo below is from the beginning of the trail and you can see the rim in the middle. The trail up to that point is pretty great, but once you pass that point it gets truly amazing.
