Finally, after six weeks, Bottling Day arrived! A friend of mine came over and we added priming sugar and siphoned the beer into bottles. It was not as messy as I thought it would be and also pretty straightforward and quick.
If everything went well and nothing got contaminated (I washed the bottles and the hose in disinfectant, but who knows…) they should be ready do drink in about 10 days. We tried a bit of the un-carbonated beer and it didn’t taste too good. Very flat and syrupy. And another friend specifically warned me against giving in to the temptation to open a bottle after just 5 days.
Apparently the taste changes over time as it matures in the bottles, so I’m really curious!
I sure hope it does though.
